From farm-to-table dining
Every meal, every harvest, and every experience at Wang Oo begins with a deep respect for the land. Through sustainable farming practices rooted in Acholi traditions, we grow much of our own food, protect local biodiversity, and create meaningful experiences that connect guests with nature.
Our Farming Philosophy
Our farming practices are guided by a simple belief: healthy soil creates healthy food, healthy communities, and unforgettable guest experiences.
To maintain fertile land, we: Compost organic kitchen and garden waste, Use natural fertilisers, Store underground water for irrigation, Mulch planting beds to retain moisture, Rotate crops throughout the year, Practice intercropping to naturally reduce pests
Turkeys
Our turkeys are raised in a calm, open environment where they thrive naturally alongside the rest of our farm animals.
Chicken
Our free-range chickens roam freely throughout the property, producing fresh eggs while naturally enriching the soil.
Sheep
Our sheep graze peacefully across designated pastures, helping maintain healthy grasslands while naturally fertilising the soil.
Goats
Our goats are carefully raised in spacious grazing areas where they help maintain the natural landscape while providing nutrient-rich manure for our gardens.
Fresh Ingredients, Authentic Flavours
The vegetables, herbs, fruits, and grains harvested from our gardens find their way directly into our kitchen, where they become authentic Acholi and Ugandan dishes prepared with care.
Throughout the year we grow:
- Cassava
- Sweet Potatoes
- Yams
- Beans
- Peas
- Maize
- Tomatoes
- Onions
- Eggplants
- Okra
- Fresh Herbs
- Leafy Vegetables
Farming in Balance
Our goats, sheep, cows, and free-range poultry play an important role in maintaining a healthy ecosystem.
Animals help enrich our soil through natural manure while carefully managed grazing prevents overuse of the land and encourages healthy vegetation.
Our poultry provides fresh eggs throughout the year while naturally fertilising the gardens that sustain our kitchen.
Nature's Sweetest Partnership
Each year, Wang Oo welcomes migrating bee swarms that settle into handcrafted wooden hives placed among native flowering trees.
Without chemicals or pesticides, our gardens provide a safe environment for pollinators while producing distinctive honey harvested using traditional methods.
The bees feed primarily on Labweri, a native medicinal plant treasured within Acholi culture. This gives our honey its unique flavour while reflecting generations of local knowledge and sustainable stewardship.
